Jack is also the author of 'The Sheela na Gigs of Ireland and Britain', 'Antiquities of the Beara Peninsula', and 'The Sun Circles of Ireland' among many other publications. Rathcroghan's own Bernadette D'alton, is our resident expert on all things Queen Medb and we look forward to another fascinating presentation this year. Mike McCarthy - The Formation of Ancient and Contemporary Beliefs and Practices - 'a discussion and demonstration on the formation of beliefs, and the similarities and differences between now and times past' - a talk and demonstration to follow. Mike is qualified Consulting Hypnotist. He holds a BSc. in Pharmacy from Trinity College Dublin and also works as a Tour Guide at Rathcroghan. Workshop Ray Sawyer-James - The Nature of Mindfulness In Celtic times our ancestors held nature in reverence, respecting and living in harmony with the environment they inhabited. This workshop will explore how we can use this ancient wisdom in modern times, combining it with Mindfulness practice to live in harmony with life - whatever life brings. A good preparation for Oweynagat perhaps! Tour 'a walking and talking exploration of Rathcroghan incorporating Cruachan's Ancient Ritual Site and Ireland's traditional Entrance to the Otherworld - the Cave of Oweynagat, where we will use and explore some of the themes of the weekend' - this tour will be facilitated by the staff of Rathcroghan Visitor Centre. (Please note that the tour incorporates crossing agricultural land and that the entrance to the Cave of Oweynagat can be very muddy, so appropriate clothes and footwear should be worn) |
